The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA chapter recently had many teams excel in various Career Development Events (CDEs) at the State level. Teams that place in the top 5 in the state earn award banners that are displayed in the school. This year, the chapter has earned more high placing banners than any other year in chapter history. Some of the most recent successes are highlighted below.
The Agricultural Issues Forum team placed 1st at State, recently competing at Wilmington College. This CDE has been available at the National level for a few years but this was Ohio’s first time offering it. If our chapter is still in place next fall, this team will go to the National FFA Convention to compete. The team members were Hannah Chenetski, Caitlin Robinson, Sierra Jepsen, Kayla Porter, and Kelsie Sharp. We would like to commend these young ladies on this outstanding accomplishment.
The Nature Interpretation team, with the team of record consisting of Nick Brumfield, Michael Hite, Aaron Miller, and Alex Norris, recently their State contest also. Two members participating in this CDE were Hunter Ricketts and Emily Cordle. Not only did these FFA members do well as a team, individually, Nick placed 2nd, Aaron placed 3rd, and Michael placed 5th individually. This is the first time the chapter has ever won this CDE!
The Agricultural Mechanics Skills team recently placed 3rd at State. This is also a record high placing for the chapter, and outstanding feat for these young men as they are competing again students enrolled in Agricultural Mechanics programs at Career Technical Centers. The team members were John Miller, Nate Seitz, and Devin Collins. Individually, John placed 2nd in the state.
These same young men also competed in the State Outdoor Power Equipment CDE, formally known as Small Engines. This time, the team placed 2nd in the State, with John placing 4th individually and Nate placing 5th. This is also the highest the chapter has ever placed in this CDE.
Finally, the Environmental and Natural Resources team placed 2nd at State. The team members were Alex Norris, Michael Hite, Aaron Miller, and Nick Brumfield. They competed at Lake Snowden near Athens, as this CDE was hosted by Hocking College.
Couple these recent successes with a 2nd place finish in December the Agricultural Communications team, and we can safely say our chapter truly did have a ‘banner’ year. Congratulations to all members on these outstanding requirements.
