Fort Recovery holds 83rd annual FFA banquet

The Fort Recovery FFA recently held its annual banquet at the Fort Recovery Middle School Auditorium with well over 230 members, parents, and agribusiness leaders in attendance. The banquet serves as public display of all the hard work done by the members in the past year.  Fort Recovery Chapter President Logan Jutte called the banquet to order.  Chapter Sentinel Mitchell Lennartz gave the invocation and the buffet meal was served.  Remarks were given FRHS Principal Jeff Hobbs, FRHS Superintendent, and Fort Recovery Alumni Secretary Lisa Timmerman.

With 103 members, the Fort Recovery FFA participates in numerous events including career development events, fundraisers and community service projects. This year nine members will receive their State FFA Degree, which include Randy Braun, Samantha Florence, Katie Fortkamp, Mitchell Lennartz, Grant Muhlenkamp, Nicole Nietfeld, Alex Stammen, Kaleb Timmerman, and Samantha Tobe. Six other members, Kurt Fortkamp, Doug Lennartz, Andrea Lennartz, John Link, Jacob Whitacre, and Karissa Will, will receive their American FFA Degree. Only one-half of one percent of all members receives their American FFA Degree.

Many other awards were given out to members for dedicated service and commitment to the chapter and all its activities.  The Star in Agribusiness Award was given to Logan Jutte, the Star Farmer Award went to Keith Fortkamp, the Star Greenhand Award went to A.J. Jutte, and the Dekalb Award was given to Eric Brackman. The Honorary Member this year was Lisa Timmerman.

Among other events at the banquet, the chapter held its annual Pie Auction that raised $3,650. All proceeds from the auction are returned to the students to allow them to participate at the State FFA Convention, FFA Camp, and the National FFA Convention.  The chapter would like to say thank you to all those that supported the auction. The pie buyers were Matt Barman, Paul and Ginny Fortkamp, Roger and Marylin Fortkamp, Eric and Gail Jutte, Bill Link, Carl Link, Midwest Poultry, Jerry Schwieterman, and Jim Stammen.

Many area businesses donated money to support the awards program and table favors.
