Ohio Crop Progress — September 17, 2018

Wet Conditions Delay Harvest

Intermittent rain last week combined with previous wet conditions slowed crop harvest, according to Cheryl Turner, State Statistician, USDA, NASS, Ohio Field Office. There were 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork in Ohio during the week ending September 16. Scattered rain events stalled harvest in some areas but corn silage harvest continued where conditions allowed. Corn for grain and soybean harvests began in some areas. There were some reports of ponding in fields. Hay that was made was wrapped or bagged. Corn and soybeans remained in mostly good to excellent condition.
