Preble Shawnee FFA participates in county fair

Mitchell Monnin received the outstanding shop award at the 2012 Preble County Fair. This summer, members of the Preble Shawnee FFA chapter entered a variety of projects in the Preble County Fair. Several first year members entered Agri-Science Fair boards to be displayed in the Tony Building. Each class made a shop project during the school year, as well. A couple of classes made garden stones, some made bird baths, and others made benches.

Many students also created story boards that displayed them working on their SAE projects. In FFA, every student has an SAE project, or a Supervised Agricultural Education project. These projects are designed by the student and can be anything from showing animals at the fair to an agricultural-related job that they have. There were also a couple members who entered vegetables that they grew in their garden.

Our chapter designed an FFA booth to enter in the fair, too. The booth was themed “Going For the Gold with FFA” in honor of the Olympics it displayed pictures of our members participating in various activities that we participated in throughout the year. On top of all of the shop and crop projects that our chapter entered, many of our members took livestock.
