Hiland FFA competes in Parliamentary Procedure Contest

On Nov. 20, Hiland FFA members participated in the Sub-District 8 Parliamentary Procedure Contest, held at Ridgewood High School. The Hiland Senior Team placed fourth overall. Members who participated were: Megan Hippert, Jessica Davis, Rachelle Yoder, Taylor Raber, Brandon Kozak, Grant Mast, Lee Shetler, and Preston Shamp.

Members who participated took a knowledge-based test on parli pro and then performed a meeting in front of three judges. Members had to do abilities that were assigned to them, and debate on main motions. The point of the Parliamentary Procedure CDE (Career Development Event) is to learn how to run a business meeting properly. FFA members demonstrate their knowledge about Parliamentary Procedure at each monthly meeting.

The purpose of Parliamentary Procedure is to help members to discuss and handle matters of the chapter. It also helps meetings to be run smoothly.
