Miami East-MVCTC stays busy with multiple CDE’s

The Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter has been staying busy with their participation in multiple career development events.

A member of the chapter recently competed in the District 5 Public Speaking contest held at the New Bremen High School in Auglaize County.

Isabelle Trevino-1Isabelle Trevino (pictured left) competed in the Advanced FFA Creed Speaking Contest. Isabelle recited the FFA Creed and answered questions. She earned a Gold Rating and placed 2nd overall. Isabelle went on to compete at the State FFA Public Speaking Contest. Congratulations to Isabelle.

Kolin Bendickson and Colin Hawes recently competed in the District Agricultural and Industrial Diagnostics (formerly known as Tractor Trouble Shooting) at the Darke County Fairgrounds in Greenville. Tractors for the competition were supplied by North Star Hardware and Implement and Koenig Equipment from Greenville. Kolin and Colin are both members of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter at Miami East High School.

During the contest the team troubleshot two bugs in each of five tractors. They had to identify the problems and fix them in less than fifteen minutes. Prior to the contest they took a test over tractor maintenance and repair.

The team placed 9th in the district out of 17 schools. A special thank you goes to Taler Mumford and 2014 AIDs CDE (1)Brandon Lavy for coaching the team.
