The National Trail FFA Chapter recently performed a spectacular Parent-Member Banquet. This year’s banquet attendance of over 380 people was the greatest attendance in National Trail FFA Banquet history. The members started with dinner and afterwards pulled off a very successful awards ceremony filled with the member accomplishments this past year. Star Greenhand is awarded to a freshman who shows outstanding effort, dedication, and grades. The winner this year was Shania Jordan. Star Chapter is awarded for the sophomore who shows the greatest effort, dedication and grades; the winner this year was Dawn Richardson. The Parliamentary Procedure Team was recognized for getting first place in the County and received a gold rating. They proceeded on to place first in the District 5 finals and placed second in the State Semi-Finals. Another team recognized at banquet was the Urban and Rural Soil judging teams. Both teams were very successful this year. The Urban Soils team earned the right to compete at the National Soils Career Development Event in Oklahoma.
Retiring plaques were awarded to the 2013-2014 officer team of President; Kate Deaton, Vice President; Carson Fort, Secretary; Cara Williams, Student Advisor; Heather Brooks, Treasurer; Kara Gallaher, Reporter; Tessa Rhodus, Sentinel; Lenny Morgan, and Historian; Sean Drew. The 2014-2015 National Trail FFA officer team was also announced. Completing the banquet was a very touching Tribute to recently deceased advisor Mr. Joe Slone, in memory of his 31 years as an advisor at National Trail. The National Trail FFA Chapter would like to send special thanks to members of the community, FFA Alumni, and friends who helped in any way to make this year’s banquet possible!
