RG Drage FFA holds successful banquet

The RG Drage FFA Chapter recently hosted their FFA banquet. Our guest speaker for the night was Dustin Homan. Jarred Shellhouse, the Ohio FFA 2013-2014 State Treasurer, also gave a brief speech about oppertunities in the FFA. The first-year FFA members received their Greenhand Degrees at the banquet, the recipients were: Jessica Ake, Sydney Bartolet, Cameron Barton, Angela Casalinove, Brittani Combs, Cora Daniel, Brianna Fowler, Kristin Gilliam, Adriana Grimm, Samantha Hysong, Melissa Janis, Shelby Lambert, Andrew Marcelli, Heather Marsh, Jennifer McLaughin, Kasilyn Meadows, Carrie Miller, Jennifer Smith, and Laura Wood. The second-year FFA members also received their Chapter Degrees, the recipients are: Amber Buzaki, Hannah Eckenrode, Jayda Greenlee, Patrick Helwig, Kyall Kiko, Sierra Lightfoot, Garret Mills, Cassidy Peterson, Kelsey Reed, Elizabeth Smith, and Mark Toland. Chapter Degree recipients are given the chance to receive the Star Greenhand and Star Chapter awards determined by an application that consists of a review of the past years school, community, and FFA Chapter events as well as scholastic merit. The members with the 2nd most points will receive the Outstanding Greenhand and Outstanding Chapter member awards. The Star Greenhand recipient was Adriana Grimm. The Outstanding Greenhand member award goes to, Cora Daniel and Jennifer Smith. The Star Chapter Degree recipient was Amber Buzaki. The Outstanding Chapter member award went to Kelsey Reed. The DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment award went to Patrick Helwig, he helped the FFA Chapter whenever it was needed, with countless hours and stress, Patrick always seemed to be there with an open hand. The GPA recognition award was, in the senior class, Elizabeth Smith, and in the junior class was, Amber Buzaki. These students had the highest GPA in the class for the entire year. Every year, the FFA raises money though the Fruit and Strawberry Sales. The top three sellers were Amber Buzaki in 3rd with $742, Monica Kurtz in 2nd with $995, and Jayda Greenlee in 1st with $1,771. At the end of the banquet we gave all of the people and buisnesses that helped us out throughout the year Certificates of Appreciation for all of their help. These people were, Amanda Rohr-Equine Judging coach, Jeremy Barbour-Beef Nutritionist, Tanny Helwig-State Convention Chaperone, Gary Freeman-Animal Science Substitute, Janette Weisgarber-RG Drage Secretary, Kelly Kuhn-State Convention Chaperone, Dustin Homan-Guest Speaker, Kim Bartholomew-Junior Guidance Counselor, Job Interview Pratice, Any McGee-Senior Guidance Counselor, Job Interview Practice, Nicole Lancaster-Officer Interviews, RJ Mathews Company-Supporter of the RG Drage FFA Chapter, Mechael Lewis-RG Drage Principal, Jarred Shellhouse-Guest Speaker, and Mr. Larry Morgan-Superintendent.
