Several Hiland FFA members attend Camp Muskingum

On June 2-6, 2014, FFA Camp Muskingum was held in Carroll County off the shores of Leesville Lake. Five Hiland FFA members; Brandon Stutzman, Tallie Troyer, Olivia Ward, Diane Yoder, and Kelsey Yoder decided to go and experience this annual event for the first time. There were over 288 students from the state of Ohio at this first out of five camp sessions. The camp theme this year was Indiana Jones. While the FFA members were there, camp offered many awesome opportunities such as fishing, high and low rope courses, sports, hiking, boating, and swimming. Paintball and sports tournaments with camp groups were also possible events to participate in during camp. There were State Officer

workshops that taught little lessons on different topics; acceptance of your peers, teamwork, making new friends, being the person, and leader they know you can be. These workshops worked like a charm and Hiland FFA members had a blast doing it with all new people. That Wednesday at dinner time, camp held the Hunger banquet. This taught campers about the hunger and poverty issues here in the United States. It was a very eye opening and sad experience to everyone. Camp was overall just an amazing chance to meet new people and gather more thought for what exactly our role in FFA and our community really is.
