United Producers Inc. (UPI) has hired Donald “Bill” Tom as its Executive Vice President of Livestock Marketing.
Tom will provide operational management and coordination for the livestock business units and direct livestock ancillary services. He will work with the senior management team to oversee the implementation of the strategic vision for livestock marketing.
“Along with his leadership experience, understanding of cooperatives and background in agriculture, Bill brings a proven track record of obtaining positive results through teamwork and a dedication to customer success,” said Mike Bumgarner, Chief Operating Officer of United Producers Inc. “We are excited to have Bill join our team and help us continue to meet the needs of our member farmers throughout the Midwest.”
Most recently, Tom worked for Trupointe Cooperative as Vice President of Risk Management, Grain Origination, EH & S and Marketing Solutions. He also has leadership experience with Cargill, Inc. and experience in animal nutrient sales and reproduction and nutrition management. Tom is a graduate of Ohio State University and resides in Spring Valley, Ohio, with his wife and family.
UPI also announced Dean Smith was hired as a Hog Sales Representative for their Advanced Hog Marketing division. Smith will be responsible for buying and selling hogs and developing relationships with hog farmers in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
“During his 38 year career, Dean has developed a strong understanding of the hog industry and established relationships with hog farmers in the Midwest,” said Jeff Harding, Senior Vice President of Livestock Marketing. “We are pleased to have someone with his knowledge and experience join our team.”
Most recently, Smith was the procurement manager at Routh Packing Company in Sandusky, Ohio, and currently resides near Sandusky.
