Symphony on the Farm tickets for sale

Tickets are now on sale (benefitinthebarn.org) for the Delaware County Farm Bureau’s Benefit in the Barn, A Symphony on the Farm. This celebration of agriculture, food and music happens Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 with all proceeds benefitting partners of the Delaware County Hunger Alliance. Guests will enjoy a fun, unique concert complete with dinner catered by City BBQ, Ohio beer, wine and spirits. The organizers promise special surprises throughout the night. All proceeds from the evening support the Delaware County Hunger Alliance.

Through a partnership between the Delaware County Farm Bureau and the Delaware County United Way’s Hunger Alliance, local food insecurity is being addressed in a meaningful way. Proceeds from the 2016 Benefit in the Barn are being used to expand the weekend food backpack program for low income children in Delaware County Schools. It is also establishing a new program that will allow holders of SNAP cards to purchase fresh produce at the Delaware Farmers Market.

“One of the key objectives of the Benefit in the Barn is to help reduce the hunger problem in our community. These projects are two of the several hunger relief initiatives that will be supported,” said  Zach Taylor, president of the Delaware County Farm Bureau.

Barb Lyon, Vice President of the Delaware County United Way said that over 500 low-income children in Delaware County school districts will benefit from the backpack program.

“Making the backpack program available to more families meets a critical need in our community and is only possible because of everyone that supports Benefit in the Barn. Connecting low-income families to the healthy options available through the farmer’s market also contributes to the overall health of the community while supporting local growers,” Lyon said.

The year’s event takes place on the Doug Dawson Farm at 2831 Bowtown Road, Delaware. Tickets include a picnic-style dinner (compliments of City BBQ and Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Delaware and Honda Marysville) beginning at 6 p.m. and a performance by the Central Ohio Symphony from 7:30 p.m. until dusk. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for open seating in the barn or adjacent tents. Handicapped parking will be available.
