Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast – April 11, 2019

By Jeremy Kappell

In response to an explosive late spring storm across the Plains, warming winds will arrive across the Buckeye State on Thursday with high temps warming through the 60’s and well into the 70’s in most areas with filtered sunshine.  The exception will be far northern Ohio which will be stuck on the wrong side of a stationary front allowing for more clouds, winds backed out of the east and much cooler conditions for Toledo and northwest sections of the state.

A large area of rain with embedded rumbles of thunder will approach the state from the west by Friday morning.  This activity will work it’s way across the state and generally weaken to showers as it progresses to the east.  Rainfall looks to be fairly light on the order of 0.10 to 0.30″ for most.  Despite the clouds and showers temps look to remain mild with highs in the mid to upper 60’s statewide.

Temps will cool only a bit behind a cold front as we slide into the weekend on a dry note.  High pressure looks to bring some quiet conditions Saturday with highs reaching the upper 50’s northwest and middle 60’s southeast.  Confidence is increasing that another low will form across the Lower Mississippi River Valley by late Saturday driving the potential for some heavy rainfall late Saturday night and into Sunday.  This system could bring some very generous rains to the area with an inch or two possible.

Following a breezy, damp and cooler Monday with temps topping out in the 40’s, data suggests we’ll warm it up quickly into the middle of next week with highs returning to the 60’s and lower 70’s by Tuesday and Wednesday.  We’ll see another chance for rain by next Thursday/Friday.  If trends hold, next weekend comes in unsettled and possible much colder.
