Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast December 9, 2021

No change in thought process this morning. We are warming up today and tomorrow in the short term, but also have some moisture coming late tomorrow through the first half of the weekend. We get cold for a short period to finish the weekend, then swing back to significantly warmer air for the monday through Thursday period. A cold front late next week Thursday night into Friday brings more rain. Here are the details.

Today turns out partly sunny and warmer than yesterday, with most areas a good 10 degrees stronger at least. We stay precipitation free. Tomorrow. clods will be on the increase, but we still are rain free through most of the day. We could see some scattered showers start late afternoon in far NW Ohio, but will see most of the rain start up after sunset. Rains continue through the overnight Friday night and then all day Saturday. Thunderstorms are likely a part of this system and event as well, bringing spotty heavier rains, mostly central and south but we don’t want to rule them out anywhere. Rain totals from Friday night through Saturday will stay in the half to 1.5″ range, as shown by the map below. Rain should be done by or shortly after sunset Saturdaynight. We wont rule out rain ending as some wet snow later Saturday, but accumulations will be minimal if we see any at all. But, cold air is on the move behind the front.

Sunday turns out partly sunny but will be colder, Howeve,r this is short lived. Monday will feature dominant sunshine and msot of the rest of the week turns out partly to mostly sunny,…at least rhgouht thursday. We will liekly see temps 20 degrees or more above normal for the monday through thrusady morning time period.

A cold front slides through from NW to SE overnight Thursday night into next Friday. The front itself is not a news maker. We wont rule out a few showers with potential for a few hundredths to a tenth or two. However, the front does usher in another move back colder. Still, temps actually end up closer to normal as we finish out the 10 day forecast window. The dry pattern is set to hold through at least the 20th now, with a potential system arriving as we move into the 21st.
