All good things must come to an end, and that is what we are seeing today. After a weeks worth (or more in some areas) of fantastic, and honestly ab-normal November weather, today will begin our retreat to more of a late autumn/early winter type pattern. A cold front sweeping across the state from NW to SE today will bring scattered light rain showers. Moisture is not all that impressive, but will produce a few hundredths to half an inch over about 80% of Ohio. Temps will be much cooler today than what we have seen this week up to this point, but will actually be just closer to normal. The chill hangs around into the start of the weekend for tomorrow morning as well, before temps moderate slightly to finish the weekend on Sunday and for the start of next week on Monday. We are dry for the entire 3 day period.
A strong system coming out of the central and southern plains will lift across the eastern corn belt Monday night and Tuesday. Rain and thunderstorms are likely, and precipitation may even linger into early Wednesday morning. Significant cold air comes in behind the front, and the cold air while some light moisture is still in the area as well, so rain may end as sloppy wet snowflakes over parts of the state, particularly in northern tier counties. Precipitation totals for the event will be .25″-1.5″ liquid equivalent, with coverage at nearly 100% of the state. The map below shows the picture.

The cold air that comes in behind the front is much, much colder. We will be a good 10 degrees below normal for next Wednesday and Thursday. Some lake effect clouds and precipitation will be around Wednesday…clouds over a good chunk of the state, precipitation relegated to areas near the Lake Erie shoreline. Thanksgiving turns out partly sunny, but stays quite chilly. Cold air remains entrenched over the region through the end of the holiday weekend, and we even see a reinforcing shot of cold coming later Friday into Saturday (the 25th). However, we stay dry for the entire holiday weekend as well, holding off on our next system until the week of the 27th.
