Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, February 8, 2024

Clouds thicken through your Thursday over Ohio, especially this afternoon and evening. The clouds are front-running a cold front that will eventually pass tomorrow evening into Saturday. However, the clouds also will trigger some scattered showers overnight tonight and tomorrow. We can see two waves. The first tonight through tomorrow morning to midday, and then the second tomorrow evening and overnight. Moisture does not look impressive at all, at least to start, at a few hundredths to a few tenths, with coverage at about 70%. However the second round later tomorrow night may be heavier in the far southern part of the state. The map below shows moisture from midnight tonight through sunrise Saturday. Temps stay mild today and tomorrow, and even with the moisture around, tomorrow is likely the warmest day of the week, with temps pushing into the 50s statewide.

Cooler air moves in over the weekend. Temps pull back Saturday, and we are chilly for Sunday. Then next week we stay on the cool side. Monday there is a system passing by to our south. While this system does not have a direct hit in store for OH, it does look like we see decent cloud cover over the state, and we wont rule out some moisture trying to lift north into the state up to perhaps I-70. However, the track is still up in the air, so its just a “watch it” event right now. Tuesday, Wendnesday and the first part of THusday we can expect a mix of lcouds adn sun. Temps stay close to normal.

Thursday afternoon clouds thicken and we have a quick moving little clipper system for Thursday night and Friday. That can bring a chance of scattered snow showers. More impressively, it ushers in a cold, Canadian high pressure dome that will take temps easily below normal to finish next week. However, that cold surge should be a dry period too, under the high pressure center.
