Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, March 28, 2024

Good sunshine for Thursday with temps starting to moderate just a bit. The best terminology for today will be “not as cold”. Winds will be still west to southwest, working toward fully south by tomorrow. There may be a minor disturbance moving through the region overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, and it can trigger an isolated shower or two mostly in west central and SW OH. Outside of that, we stay dry for the rest of of Friday, and temps will be milder.

The holiday weekend will require us to keep an umbrella close. We are looking at two waves of moisture moving through the state. the first on Saturday will have about 70% coverage. Then we take a break for Eastern Sunday morning into midday, before a second batch of moisture moves through from Sunday afternoon through the overnight and most of Monday. That round has the potential to be heavier, and may have some decent thunderstorm action in it as well. All told, we look for combined moisture in the Saturday through Monday period to come in at half to 2″ with coverage at nearly 100% of Ohio. THe map below shows an updated look.

Tuesday next week is a bit cooler, and that cool pattern holds into wednesday as well. However, we will not be as cold as this week, temps staying near normal. We moderate late week and into the weekend. The longer term pattern suggests we may be closer to April 9th before our next frontal complex moves into the eastern corn belt.
