Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, May 10, 2024

Friday turns out mostly dry over all of Ohio. We expect a mix of clouds and sun, and should turn out a bit warmer than yesterday. However, we do end up with clouds building in the evening and overnight, ahead of a fast moving minor disturbance coming after midnight through tomorrow afternoon. That system moves in from the Upper Midwest, across the Great Lakes, and brings scattered showers to 80% of Ohio through Saturday. Moisture is minor, we see .3″ or less, but we clearly will not be drying for the start of the weekend.

We turn out partly sunny for Sunday and stay pleasant through most of Monday. Clouds develop again overnight Monday night with rain and thunderstorms from midnight monday night through most of Tuesday. Rain totals will be .25″-1″ with 90% coverage. The best areas for the upper end of the range will be in central and southern OH. The map below shows 24 hour rain totals form midnight Monday night through midnight Tuesday.

We should move into a drier pattern for the rest of the week. Partly to mostly sunny skies dominate Wednesday through Saturday. Temps will be mild, and will fuel good evaporation. Drying should be swift, so areas that are on the lower end of the range on Tuesday may get an opportunity to get into the fields late in the week. Time will tell.

We do see another system getting close to the region for Sunday the 19th, and it may throw a few showers this direction, but there is plenty of time for this to track differently. Right now it is aimed more at the southern part of the region rather than a direct hit.
