Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, May 13, 2024

Dry today over all of Ohio. Temps will be mild and evaporation rates high. However, the rest of the week does not look as pleasant.

Scattered showers develop overnight tonight through tomorrow, giving rain totals of .25″-1″ and coverage at 90%. Rain lingers Wednesday south of a line from Youngstown to Cincinnati, with an additional .1″-.5″. We should see clouds and some sun Wednesday in NW OHio.

Thursday is precipitation free in most areas. Clouds increase overnight Thursday night, with showers and storms then for Friday and saturday. A secondary batch of wrap around moisture settles in for Sunday the 20th. Combined, for the end of the week and weekend, we can see half to 1.5″ rain totals with coverage at 100% of the state.

Next week starts with some sun Monday. Scattered showers return overnight Monday night and Tuesday morning. Rain totals look to be half an inch or less with 60% coverage. After a relatively dry tuesday afternoon, we see another round of scattered light shower activity tuesday overnight into Wednesday morning at a few hundredths to .4″ and 60% coverage. Clearly we will have trouble stringing together any more than a couple of dry days back to back of dryness over the next 10 days. The map below shows 10 day combined rain potential as we see it this morning. Planting progress will continue to be slow.
