Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, May 22, 2024

A frontal boundary works through Ohio today. The front started to work into western and NW Ohio very early this morning and will continue to trigger showers and thunderstorms through the rest of the day. However, we do see this front losing a lot of its punch as it moves east, which will allow for more spotty to scattered action instead of an “everybody gets something” set up. We are penciling in .1″-.75″ rain totals from this event with coverage at 60%. Temps will definitely be cooler today than yesterday.

The rest of the week turns into a north v. south pattern. We should be mostly precipitation free over the northern part of the state both Thursday and Friday, but will have to watch out for scattered showers and storms over areas from US30 south. Additional rain over the 2 day period can be up to another .75″ south of US 30. We can see mixed clouds and sun farther north. Everyone turns out dry for Saturday.

A significant round of moisture swings in for Sunday through Monday midday over the holiday weekend. 2 waves of moisture can trigger rain totals of .3″-1.25″ with coverage at 90% of the state. By far the biggest potential will come Sunday overnight, with a threat of severe weather. The map below shows action for the last 2 days of the Memorial Day weekend.

Tuesday may bring a few scattered showers early, but otherwise we dry down. Partly sunny skies are expected Tuesday afternoon through at least Friday, giving good evaporation and drydown potential.

  1. Dude, you are like the NWS. Your long range 3-5 day forecast s are gloom and doom . But as the days get closer you back off the precipitation. And don’t tell me it is complex! Supposedly we put men in the moon ( I think it was all staged Hollywood crap just to beat the Russians) but a 5 day hold true accurate forecast is impossible. COME ON MAN!!!!!!
