Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, May 24, 2024

Very warm to finish the week today. The warmth may set us up for a few heat based thunderstorms later this evening and overnight, but the setup does not look to promote anything on a grand scale. The best threat of showers or thunderstorms overnight will be in NW Ohio. Better potential for showers exists tomorrow morning and midday over the state, with 60% coverage of moisture from a tenth to half an inch. We get partly sunny skies back in the afternoon, and we start Sunday with some sunshine as well.

Showers and thunderstorms return late Sunday afternoon through Monday midday. We can pick up our best rains here, with totals from .25″-1.5″ over 90% of the state. The map below shows precipitation potential during the period. We likely will be able to salvage Memorial Day afternoon and evening, as clouds give way back to sunshine.

We are a bit unsettled behind that Memorial Day weekend system, and that pattern will allow for some hit and miss scattered showers to be around Tuesday and Wednesday. Moisture is not significant at a few hundredths to .4″ over the 2 days together. Coverage will be 50% or less. BUt, the set up does suggest that drying may be a bit slow. We turn out partly sunny in areas that do not see showers Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mostly sunny skies to finish the week for Thursday and Friday. Temps will be above normal. Good drying is expected. A frontal boundary brings rain back for Saturday the 1st, with totals from .1″-.75″ and coverage of 75%.
