Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, June 19, 2024

No changes. Sunny and hot through the end of the week. We will keep a small threat of pop up thunderstorms in the forecast today, or better yet, this afternoon into early evening. The rest of our week and start to the weekend will be hot and dry. We look for temps to be high enough to to cap any convection, and therefore keep us devoid of thunderstorms tomorrow through Saturday.

A frontal boundary works our direction Sunday. This front will pull temps back a bit into the upper 80s, and also bring a very slight chance of rain. Scattered showers will not be ruled out, but we expect coverage to come in at no better than 60% coverage adn rain totals at .1″-.5″. The wind shift and lower temps is the main calling card of this frontal passage.

Next week starts warm but comfortable, but heat builds at midweek on through the end of the week. In the heat, we see a threat of showers Tuesday night through early Thursday morning. We can see totals at .1″-.6″ over the state with 75% coverage. The moisture will fuel humidity for the late week period, and the region will be quite uncomfortable again. But at least we will have picked up some rain for crop growth and development. The map below shows combined moisture potential for the Sunday through next Thursday time frame.
