Kenyon College’s land conservancy celebrates 25 years

Kenyon College is the only university in the United States with their own land conservancy. The Philander Chase Conservancy was established in 2000 to protect the agricultural and natural landscape surrounding the university in Gambier. Today the Philander Chase Conservancy has protected more than 6,000 acres within a five-mile radius of the college. This includes 29 conservation easements and 21 agricultural easements.

Amy Henricksen, director of the Philander Chase Conservancy, said, “We want people to know that this landscape doesn’t happen by accident.”
