Woodworking skills were on display during 4-H Woodworking Day at the Ohio State Fair Aug. 8. Members demonstrated their abilities with a variety of tools and showcased projects ranging from bookends and shelves to beds, tables, a chest of drawers, and even a wooden model semi-truck.
Eight clock trophies were presented, while the top 20% of participants in each class received Outstanding of the Day ribbons. Clock trophy winners were Xander Stacey, Clark County; Aiden Kroeger, Van Wert County; Alivia Brunswick, Mercer County; Brantley Rupp, Fulton County; David Gretz, Butler County; Lincoln Kahle, Putnam County; Lillian Adams, Muskingum County; and Nathan Crosser, Franklin County.

Augustus Wilson, Licking County, constructed an American flag using wood of different colors.
Nathan Crosser, the J-1 winner, described his bookends which include railroad spikes as a feature.
Brantley Rupp, the J-5 winner, used the handsaw in the skill test.
Lincoln Kahle, the J-3 winner, built a model semi-truck entirely from different kinds of wood. Is it a “Kenwood?”
Aubree Wasserman, Sandusky County, used the Milwaukee drill under the watchful eye, and helping hands, of a judge.
Kaiden Bowman, Morrow County, drilled holes as he prepared to screw two pieces together precisely in J-6.
