Scattered showers today will start rather limited in scope. However, that scope grows later this afternoon and overnight with strong thunderstorms developing. Heavy rain is likely. Storms continue through tomorrow morning before action tapers off in the afternoon. We have another threat of rain overnight tomorrow night through Saturday midday. Then, we can call for a longer break that encompasses all of Saturday night and the day time hours Sunday. Moisture is not done, though. Rain and thunderstorms return Sunday overnight and Monday. Once the action winds down on Monday, we should be able to put together a couple of days back to back of rain free weather. But, the moisture totals between now and then still are rather formidable. The map below shows rain potential from today through Monday afternoon.

Partly to mostly sunny, warm and humid Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Another line of showers and storms shows up for next Thursday and friday, before we shift back to drier weather for the weekend of the 23nd and 23rd. That dry pattern looks to extend into the week of the 24th. Current projections show potential for the next rain event that week to hold off until the 27th or 28th.
