More moisture headed our way. Rain and thunderstorms remain in the forecast for the next 3 days. Monday will start to turn the corner. While clouds hold firm to start Monday and we do have the potential for lingering showers to start that day, we should see better clearing start to work in for Monday afternoon. Between now and Monday midday we can easily see an additional 1″-3″ over the state, and the spread is shown on the map below.
Partly sunny skies emerge for next Tuesday and Wednesday, but we are quite muggy over all. Clouds increase Wednesday late, and we have the return of showers and storm for overnight next Wednesday night and Thursday. Rain totals are not nearly as impressive as what we have been facing this week. We are dry again to finish the week before showers and storms redevelop for Sunday the 23rd and to start the week of the 24th. Warm, humid air remains over the top of the eastern corn blet, but the overall heat dome to the southwest diminishes just a bit. So, that means we have potential for pop up thunderstorms as we finish the month, but a much “less wet” pattern through the last week of August, with our rain showers still around almost every day, but totals significantly smaller than this week.
