A good deal of sunshine today with a very pleasant afternoon. However, we are not done with moisture yet. Off to the NW we have a frontal boundary working through WI and MI. This will being clouds to NW Ohio late this afternoon and evening. Scattered showers associated with that front will move through the state through tomorrow. Initially we have action mostly in the north, but the showers spread in the afternoon and evening, even getting a bit of a bump toward sunset. All told, we are looking at .25″-.75″ with coverage over the state at 70%. We should be done with action by midnight, but clouds may linger into Sunday midday before breaking up completely. The map below shows event precipitation potential from very late tonight through sunrise Sunday.
We are dry from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday. Temps will be pleasant, humidity levels comfortable. We should see good drying over the three and a half day stretch. Scattered showers redevelop overnight next Wednesday night and may stay somewhat close to the region through Thursday. Then we are dry again for the rest of the week and next weekend.
The pattern for the week of the 31st is still a bit uncertain. Some data points to a cooler, drier stretch, but we also are still seeing some instability that wants to trigger some scattered showers and storm. As we work closer to the Labor Day weekend, though, a bigger push of cooler, Canadian air will work down into the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest. This cool surge does not stay long term, but will bring a quite refreshing airmass in for the early part of September.
