The front that was working through the state yesterday looks to have stalled out in the vicinity of the Ohio River. Today will see most scattered shower activity stay south into KY and the TN valley, but we cant completely rule out a renegade shower or two in southern tier counties of the state this afternoon and evening. Clouds will be around statewide, but will be thickest over the southern half of the state. Tomorrow features clouds and occasional sun as well, with a few hit and miss showers popping up. This time the threats are farther north. Sunday should be fully dry.
Next week starts with a warm front lifting through NW Ohio Monday midday and afternoon. This can be enough to produce scattered showers in those areas, but a majority of the state stays precipitation free. Sun will be followed by clouds Tuesday and then Tuesday night through Wednesday we have a system sweeping through Ohio that triggers shower and a few storms. Coverage may only be around 40%. Another front comes for Thursday night into friday with 60% coverage, and then a very strong system makes a direct hit for Saturday night through Sunday. That system looks to have significant precipitation. Combined, for the week next week we end up with half to 2″ rain totals and 100% coverage. The map below shows the weekly potential.

Behind that strong low late next weekend, we turn significantly cooler as Canadian air settled south. high pressure will take control over the upper Midwest and Great Lakes to start the week of the 21st. That cooler air is also drier, and we should be precipitation free for the entire week with excellent drying and evaporation. If field work is stymied next week by the rains, we should be able to turn around and get right back at it as we move later into the week of the 21st. The dry pattern may try to extend into the following week as well.
