Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, September 14, 2026

A very active precipitation track is developing this week to our west. Parts of Iowa, southern MN and SW WI will get waylaid with rain and thunderstorms on 3 separate occasions this week. The far eastern corn belt will see some moisture related to that work in, but nothing near that intensity. Additionally, here in Ohio we will see a north vs. south set up this week with the moisture that does make it. Areas north of US 30 are primed to get the best rains this week, while the central and southern parts of the state will pick up lesser totals. Today is rain free. Tomorrow clouds build and we have to leave the door open for some scattered action in NW Ohio late afternoon and evening. Wednesday we have chances of showers statewide, but only about 60% coverage max. Thursday we take a bit of a pause. The best rain chances for the most areas may develop late in the week and weekend from later Friday through Saturday. In any case, we are looking for full week totals at .25″-2+” with coverage at 80% (see map below that shows rain totals from today through the weekend). There will be holes in the precipitation coverage this week, but we also have to say to expect some interruption in harvest and field work, under our current projections, especially in the north. But they will not be long term interruptions in the central and southern parts of the state.

Next week is turning out cooler and drier. There may be a few leftover renegade showers Monday and Tuesday with minor coverage, but from Wednesday the 23rd through Saturday the 26th we are dry and pleasant with good evaporation and fast drying. A cold front sweeps through for Sunday the 27th, and has rain potential at .25″-.75″ on 90% coverage. But drier air returns quickly behind the front to start the week of the 28th.
