Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, September 16, 2026

No major changes in the outlook this morning as we see on and off moisture coming through the eastern corn belt to varying degrees through the rest of this week, the weekend and early next week. Scattered showers and storms work through with 60% coverage today and tomorrow. Friday we see little to no action. Then over the weekend we have daily coverage at 40% before ramping back up to 80% for next Monday and Monday night on a stronger frontal passage. As we suggested yesterday, we continue to see the best rain totals in the northern half to third of the state, and lesser potential far south. But, overall there is still no reason to deviate from a combined rain range of .5″-2+” from today through next Monday, and the new geographical spread is shown on the map below.

We may have a few lingering showers next Tuesday as the last part of our system exits, but generally we get clouds to give way to some sun. For the rest of the week and the following weekend we expect a mix of clouds and sun. The pattern is trying to dry out, but instability still is something we are watching closely. Right now the best pop up shower chances want to stay west and south, but we have a concern about some of those working this way, and are watching for signs of that. Once we make it through the weekend, we should have a dry start to the week of the 28th, and with pause in significant system action in the Great Plains, there is potential to carry that dry window into the start of October. The key to the long term pattern, in our opinion, lies in how the second half of next week shakes out. Fast drying with no lingering pop up showers late next week likely faciliates a dry finish to the month and start to October. Pesky instability showers later next week paints a more complicated swing from September to October.
