Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, September 9, 2026

Sunshine to start today, but we are watching our next frontal boundary work closer to the region. Clouds will build this afternoon in NW Ohio, with scattered showers nosing in as the front arrives. Once started in NW and north central OH, the moisture spreads over the rest of the state through the overnight and takes all the way through sunset tomorrow to clear the state. Rain totals will come in at .25″-1.5″ with nearly 100% coverage, shown on the map below.

We dry down again for Friday and most of Saturday. However, after full sun on Friday, we end up with more clouds Saturday. Those clouds can trigger a few scattered showers overnight Saturday night into early Sunday, but minor coverage and equally minor totals, mostly under .25″. The rest of Sunday turns out partly sunny.

Next week we have 3 rounds of moisture to work through. Clouds build Monday with rain and thunderstorms likely through the overnight and Tuesday thanks to a strong front. We can see some stronger thunderstorms in that frontal passage with rain totals into early Wednesday morning at .25″-1″. After bit of a break for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, clouds, showers and storms come back for friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and again Sunday. With this moisture set up, it looks like we may be hard pressed to see large scale harvest progress next week.

For the next week we dry significantly as cooler Canadian air takes over. Strong high pressure drifts slowly across the upper Midwest and Great Lakes for the first half of the week. The dry pattern looks to hold for the entirety of the week and the pattern stretching back west looks like we can see that extend farther. Right now the last 10 days of the month look to be primed for a bigger resumption of harvest and field work.
