Precision Planting’s FieldView Plus syncs data between planters and computers

The new FieldView™ Plus service from Precision Planting allows producers to sync data between multiple planters, combines, computers and additional iPads. In addition, it provides safe and secure file back-up.

According to Doug Sauder, Product Manager, “Using Amazon Web Services (AWS), we built the PrecisionCloud that connects all of your iPads, SeedSense displays and planters to the cloud. This makes it simple for users to sync their information across multiple iPads, to share it with their partners, to store it securely, and to see and understand its implications across their entire operation.”

FieldView Plus makes it easy to share coverage files between tractors. It transfers FieldScriptsSM and allows fast downloads of 20/20 files to a desktop computer or to share with partners. FieldView Plus also automatically backs up the user’s 20/20 and FieldView data.

For operations where more than one person needs access to information, FieldView Plus automatically syncs field pins, field map data and client farm field lists so that data is the same on every device, anywhere.… Continue reading

Ohio man’s Chisel Ripper takes tillage to new depths

By Heather Hetterick & Matt Reese

Jeff Sberna, from Bellevue, could not find a tillage tool that went deep enough for him, especially with the limited horsepower he had available.

“We only had the Oliver 1855 to pull with. That was the biggest tractor we had at the time. I couldn’t get to the depth we wanted with a regular chisel plow or the Soil Saver. I couldn’t get it in the ground and then I couldn’t pull it, even if we borrowed a neighbor’s tractor and get more horsepower on it,” he said. “Even with the Soil Saver I couldn’t get the depth I wanted. Everybody goes for the hard pan or the plow pan, but I wanted to get down deeper to get the roots down.”

He went to work to create a piece of equipment that would do the job and the Chisel Ripper was born.

The efficient machine Sberna fabricated shatters soils from 13-inches to 15-inches deep with only 20 to 25 horsepower per shank, depending on the soil conditions, at speeds in excess of eight miles per hour.… Continue reading

Cummins QSB4.5 powers up to 173 hp for Tier 4 Final

VGT Turbo Enhances 4-Cylinder Performance, Showcased At World Of Concrete

Cummins Inc.  announced today that the next-generation QSB4.5 engine will meet Tier 4 Final near- zero emissions standards with top-rated power increased to 173 hp (129 kW) and a higher peak torque of 520 lb-ft (705 Nm). The 4-cylinder, 4.5-liter engine is performance enhanced with a Cummins VGT(TM) Variable Geometry Turbocharger, enabling the higher ratings of the QSB4.5 to reach performance levels previously associated with a larger 6-cylinder engine.

For the QSB4.5 lower ratings down to 121 hp (90 kW), the VGT technology improves transient response on a fuel efficient basis. For equipment operation, this means a stronger, faster response to increasing load demands compared to Tier 4 Interim.

The QSB4.5 will be a key focus of attention in the Cummins booth at World of Concrete, which is taking place February 5-8, 2013 in Las Vegas. The QSB4.5 will be shown ready for the EPA Tier 4 Final emission regulations taking effect Jan.… Continue reading

New Case IH Patriot 2240 Class 2 Sprayer

New Case IH Patriot 2240 Class 2 Sprayer Delivers Total Application Control in a Smaller Package

Sometimes bigger isn’t always better – particularly when it comes to getting equipment into the field. That’s why the new Case IH Patriot® 2240 – a Class 2, self-propelled sprayer – is such an important addition to the Patriot sprayer line.

“The Patriot 2240 sprayer is smaller, lighter and offers a narrower track spacing than its larger family members and boasts more ground clearance than any competitive sprayer in its class. These attributes make it better suited for the owner-operator with specialty crops or smaller fields,” says Mark Burns, Case IH Application Equipment Marketing Manager.

Case IH used the customer-driven design process to determine producer needs and married that information with current agriculture trends to develop the Patriot 2240.  The Patriot 2240 sprayer shares the same DNA as its larger siblings, the Patriot 3230, 3330 and 4430 self-propelled sprayers.… Continue reading

Tariffs target U.S. agricultural equipment

By Ty Higgins, Ohio Ag Net

One of the largest importers of U.S. agricultural equipment, Ukraine, is planning to raise rates on 371 tariff lines, including ag machinery.

While the U.S. government and international trade community continue to put pressure on Ukraine, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is asking those in the industry to make their voices heard.

“U.S. agriculture machinery exporters have a strong market and trading partner in Ukraine.  Unfortunately, Ukraine recently announced intention to raise the rates on tariffs could threaten that relationship and agriculture machinery manufacturers,” said Nick Yaksich, AEM Vice President of Government and Industry Relations. “AEM will continue to monitor the situation and call on the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, if necessary, to firmly negotiate with Ukraine on this issue.”

A total of 23 World Trade Organization delegations, including the U.S., urged Ukraine to withdraw its notification to renegotiate its tariffs prior to the expiration of the standard 90-day notification period.… Continue reading
