In the final DuPont Pioneer Crop Update of 2012, Account Manager Trent Brisby looks at the year in review and previews the perfect winter conditions for an ideal start to 2013.
With the click of the mouse, a consortium of Central Ohio Case IH dealers bought one of the most unique skid steers around and became a major benefactor of the FFA at the national, regional and local levels. Their final bid of $77,000 won Evolution Ag, LLC the online auction for “Red Power” – a one-of-a-kind skid steer donated by Case IH to raise funds for the organization.
In fact, 89 percent of the sale proceeds with go to the National FFA Foundation and 10 percent to the Ohio FFA Foundation. One percent was recently awarded to Buckeye Valley FFA, the local chapter selected by Evolution Ag, LLC, which is the parent company of JR Equipment, Inc, Hill Implement Co., and Agri-Trac, all with Ohio locations.

There are still many questions looming about the fate of the Farm Bill. The possible scenarios include making the new farm law part of a huge fiscal cliff negotiations package, a brand new 5-year Farm Bill or simply a 1-year Farm Bill extension.
The American Soybean Association‘s Beverly Paul says the latter option may sound like the easiest as extensions have been done many times in the past, but for this go around it isn’t the best way to go.
“This is a whole different situation,” Paul said. “There isn’t going to be just a straight extension of programs like we’ve enjoyed in the past where Congress says just do what your doing for another year. There is going to have to be a contribution made and that contribution money coming out of farm programs and nutrition programs. I don’t see a scenario where an extension comes without a price tag.”… Continue reading

The fourth annual Ohio Grain Farmers Symposium was held on Thursday at the Roberts Centre and Holiday Inn in Wilmington. Grain farmers throughout the state had the opportunity to hear about the latest agricultural issues impacting their operations.
The Ohio Ag Net’s Ty Higgins was there with coverage provided by Leist Mercantile and talked to those that made presentations about topics ranging from climate change, the farm bill, weed management and the markets.
Matt Roberts is an Ag Economist with The Ohio State University and his message included to be aware that an “average” year in 2013 would have a negative impact on the markets.
